A new piece of software can be presented more efficiently with a video recording than with written words. The same can be said about tutorials and other materials. Although Windows doesn't have much to offer in this department, you can find numerous third party applications which can fill its functionality gaps. Webinaria offers a quick and simple solution for recording the screen. It allows you to record the entire screen, a selected region or a window. You can also record yourself with a webcam and microphone, so you can add narrations at the same time.

Webinaria is absolutely free and it doesn't take long to install it on a computer. It works with numerous Windows versions, from the old and dusty Win 98 to the recently released Win 8. The software doesn't ask for any codecs or other additional tools and its hardware requirements are modest.

When launched, Webinaria will present a tabbed control panel, on which you can make a few simple settings, depending on what and how you wish to record. You can choose to record the entire screen, a selected window or target a specific region by moving and resizing a rectangle on your screen. Additionally, you can choose a higher or lower frame rate and enable other recording sources, like a microphone or a webcam.

Options for starting, pausing or stopping the recording process are located on a different tab. You can also use a series of keyboard shortcuts for the same actions. When you stop the recording process, the program will display a small editing window, on which you can preview the video frame by frame. It is also possible to add text, on user-defined intervals. The recording can be saved directly on the hard drive or published and shared, on the developer's website. Additionally, the recording can be converted to Flash, to make it easier to upload.

Pros

Webinaria provides several screen recording methods. It can also record with a webcam and microphone, while recording the screen. Recordings can be saved, converted or uploaded and shared. Also, the software is lightweight and it is very easy to use.

Cons

You can't record at more than 15 frames per second. Regardless of what demonstration or tutorial you wish to create, you can make everything as easy as possible with Webinaria.
